Creepy but Cute

Pillow Talk by Joanna Montgomery is a project aiming to connect long distance couples.

Each get a pillow that lightly glows when their partner goes to bed, they wear a little chest sensor that transmits their heartbeat wirelessly to the other pillow in real time. The idea is that no matter how many miles between their beds they'll feel more intimate and together, and ultimately, less alone. I still can't make my mind up whether it's a bit too surreal substituting your lover with a light up pillow, but a part of me does find it a bit adorable and lovely. Even if it does mean every once in a while you'll have a few moments of terror wondering if your beloved has died or just gone for a wee.

The woman in black

Apparently George Lois once said "A good TV ad is 20 seconds of what the hell is this all about, and 10 seconds of explanation."

For me, a good film does that too. 

I watched The Woman in Black last night. 

It had good and bad parts. 

I normally turn films off after twenty minutes if they haven't grabbed me. 

But within the first minute of The Woman in Black, I watched three young girls stop playing with their toys, stand and walk like robots towards a window, open it, and throw themselves out. 

Suffice to say, I watched the rest of the film. 

I had to find out why.

This series of short documentaries really brings to life James Webb Young's concept of new ideas being new combinations of old elements.


The truth is, almost nothing is original. Everything is a remix.
